What is ISO 17025? What is CNAS? what are they relationship?
What is ISO/IEC 17025?
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. It sets out requirements for the competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of laboratories, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of their testing and calibration results.
ISO/IEC 17025 is useful for any organization that performs testing, sampling or calibration and wants reliable results. This includes all types of laboratories, whether they be owned and operated by government, industry or, in fact, any other organization. The standard is also useful to universities, research centres, governments, regulators, inspection bodies, product certification organizations and other conformity assessment bodies with the need to do testing, sampling or calibration.
WHAT IS CNAS?
CNAL was the national accreditation body responsible for the accreditation of laboratories and inspection bodies and related activities, which was established by the approval of CNCA and authorized by CNCA. CNAL was established on July 4, 2002 by merging the former China National Accreditation Committee for Laboratories (CNACL) established by the former State Bureau of Technical Supervision, and the former China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Laboratory Accreditation Committee (CCIBLAC) established by the former Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
What is the relationship between ISO 17026 & CNAS?
The relationship between ISO 17025 and CNAS is that CNAS assesses laboratories to ensure that they are in compliance with ISO 17025. CNAS is accredited by the lnternational Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), meaning that laboratories that receive CNAS accreditation can demonstrate their compliance with international requirements.
Having CNAS accreditation is important for laboratories that want to compete globally, as it demonstrates their competency and credibility in producing reliable results. This accreditation is also important for laboratories that provide testing and calibration services to regulated industries, such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals, as they require accreditation to meet regulatory requirements.
In summary, ISO 17025 sets the general requirements for testing and calibration laboratories, while CNAS is responsible for accrediting laboratories in China to ensure they comply with international standards, such as SO 17025. By achieving CNAS accreditation, laboratories can demonstrate their competence and confidence in their results, which is important for competing in the global market and meeting regulatory requirements.
